Heroes of Cornwall

Cornwall has had its fair share of heroes. Among the well-known featured here are John Couch Adams of Laneast, near Launceston, the astronomer who discovered the planet Neptune; Richard Trevithick of Illogan near Redruth, the inventor who was the first to make a high pressure steam engine run effectively on metal rails; and Alfred Wallis, of St Ives, who started painting in his seventies and is recognised as one of the most important artists in the primitive style of the 20th century.

Many of the other stories pay homage to the men and women of Cornwall whose life was an inspiration to all who knew them.
